FAQ

Getting Started

What makes CJP so different?

I offer a complete experience from beginning to end where you don’t have to worry about a thing except showing up. I tailor all photoshoots to match your lifestyle and vision for your session and meet with you every step of the way to create a seamless and easy process. All collections include everything you could ever want from your session and I even offer professional installation of wall art!

What is the process?

Once we select a date and time for your session, we’ll meet in person or over the phone to go over all of the details including location and what to wear. About 2 weeks after your session we’ll meet in person for your ordering appointment. All orders are placed at this time. Once your order comes in, you can come pick it up from my studio or have it shipped directly to your home.

How far in advance do I need to book?

At least two weeks in advance. Not only am I usually booked, but we need time to plan your session and find a location.

Sessions

How long does a session take?

Milestone sessions are up to 30 minutes. Classic Sessions are up to one hour. Newborn Sessions are up to three hours.

Will I receive digital images from my session?

Digital images are not included in your session fee, but are available for purchase at your ordering appointment.

What should I bring to my session?

For children, I recommend bringing a small snack and a toy, blanket or stuffed animal that brings them comfort. For adults, I recommend bringing a brush, chapstick or lipgloss, and powder for touch-ups.

What if my kids don’t cooperate during our session?

This is definitely a common concern among parents planning a session, but don’t worry!  I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to get even the unhappiest of children to come around. We also plan the session with extra time for breaks.  Sometimes kids just need a minute to run around, play or eat a snack before continuing with photos.  No matter what, I have tons of patience and will never leave before capturing images you will love.

When should I schedule my maternity session?

The best time for a maternity session is between 27 and 35 weeks.  The trick is to make sure your belly will be big enough to show up in photos, but small enough so you are still comfortable moving around during your session.

When should my newborn session take place?

The best time for a newborn session is between 4 days and 2 weeks old.  Your baby is much more likely to fall asleep quickly during this time so we can get those great poses you are looking for.

How do I schedule my newborn session if I don’t know exactly when my baby will be born?

It’s best to call as soon as possible after you have decided you want newborn photos and I’ll put your due date on the calendar.  Once you actually have your baby, put me on the top of your call list so I can fit you in during the first week of your baby’s life.  If you are uncomfortable leaving the house with your baby so soon after they are born, we are happy to come to your home for the photo shoot.

What if my newborn doesn’t fall asleep for our session?

In general, most of the time spent at a newborn session is getting the baby to fall asleep.  It’s completely normal for your baby to be awake for most of the 2-3 hour session.  Once we do get your baby to sleep, we will go through all of the outfits, sets and props we have picked out very quickly to get all of the images we talked about during your consultation.  You will also receive an email before your session with tips & tricks on how to get your baby to fall asleep faster.  Again, I am not in a hurry and have built time into your session for this.

Ordering

What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express

How do I order?

You’ll meet with me about 2 weeks after your session to order in person. I show you all of the images from your session on a large flat screen TV and help you narrow the images down to your favorites and pick out the best collection for your needs.

How long does it take to receive my products once I’ve ordered?

Generally, it takes about 2-3 weeks to receive your products.  Specialty products such as custom albums, image boxes and gallery wrapped canvas may take up to 6 weeks.

How do I order if I live far away?

This has happened several times and we simply use Skype screen share to complete the ordering process.  It is exactly as if you were here!

Can you put my images online for my friends & family to see?

Yes!  Once you have come in for your ordering appointment and have placed an order of $500 or more, I’m happy to put your images in a password protected online gallery for 7 days.  Your family can view and order the photos during that 7 days.  Once the gallery has expired, there is a $50 renewal fee.

Did I answer all your questions?
