07 Sep A beautiful birth story | Folsom, California
It was her last of 3 babies and everything seemed to be going wrong. She had been on bed rest for months, having to go on maternity leave much earlier than expected, and was now in the hospital getting induced with her overdue baby. Every major contraction was causing a dramatic drop in the baby’s blood pressure, and it was now time to give up on a natural birth and start preparing for a C-Section. Not at all what she wanted for herself or her baby, but that was the reality she was facing and things were happening fast.
She was whisked into surgery with me and her husband in tow. Minutes later, beautiful and healthy baby boy, Vander was welcomed into the world. A miracle that I’ll never forget. The umbilical cord had been wrapped around his neck twice, solving the mystery of why his blood pressure had been dropping with every contraction and giving relief to his mom knowing that a C-Section really was necessary.
I am so grateful that I got to be a part of this experience and see a baby be born. It was an emotion filled day and still makes me a little teary eyed when I think about it.
