A Blessing in Disguise | Journey of a Sac State Graduate

In the midst of her last semester at Sac State, a giant curve ball was thrown her way.  About a week after our photo shoot, she and her boyfriend were in a minor car accident.  She hit her head, passed out and was rushed to UC Davis where she had an MRI.  I don’t know if you would call it a blessing in disguise, but her MRI showed a brain tumor that she would likely not have known about otherwise.

After that, everything changed and her journey to graduation became very complicated.  The doctors weren’t sure how long the tumor had been there, how fast it was growing, how dangerous it was or how quickly she needed to get surgery.  Surgery that might change her forever.  Surgery that might end her chances of graduating from college.

She had doctors appointment after doctors appointment and meetings with the dean at Sac State.

After all of these appointments and weeks of stress, it was determined that she would be able to finish out the semester and have the surgery days after walking across the stage at graduation.

So far, she is doing well after surgery.  She is strong and full of positive energy.  I’m so proud to know her and so happy that she is doing well.
